Winter at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Winter at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge

Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland’s Eastern Shore is filled with wintering wildlife. From the rarely seen DelMarVa squirrel to hundreds of Snow Geese filling the sky, you can discover a wide variety of wildlife exploring the refuge. Along with the wildlife are sweeping Eastern Shore scenes that are wonderful for landscape photography.

Join Emily Carter Mitchell on an exploration of Blackwater NWR. Beginning at sunrise, warm up with the sun as we drive the wildlife loop in search of wildlife. Expected waterfowl seen include Snow geese, Tundra swans, Canada geese, and several species of ducks. Sweeping the grass may be Northern Harriers and Bald eagles.

We will work on creating strong nature images with both landscape and wildlife as our subjects.
