2016, October 23: Autumn In The Mountains Adventure

Cunningham Falls State Park is located north of Frederick, Maryland and is home of Maryland’s highest cascading waterfall. Boasting 78 feet tall, Cunningham Falls is easily reached by a short hike and the autumn colors will enhance its beauty.

The William Houck section of Cunningham Falls State Park has a 43-acre lake, camping area, and home to Cunningham waterfalls. Offering sweeping landscapes with the lake, and a meandering trail through the woods filled with wildlife and nature, a variety of nature compositions can be found.

Designed for any level of adventurous photographer, we will concentrate on making thoughtful choices for compelling compositions.

Cunningham Falls offer wonderful opportunities for slowing down those shutter speeds and creating smooth waters with the use of filters.

Any lightweight camera is suitable for this class. Traveling light and learning how to make the most of what we have in hand is the focus.

Join us on this exciting photographic outing and come away with a better understanding of your camera, and well composed nature photographs. Total estimated distance 1 ½ miles on both paved, unpaved and rocky trails.

Topics include
-  Keeping things simple with camera settings, while developing a fresh eye for compelling nature compositions.
-  The use of filters including Polarizers, Graduated Neutral Density, and Neutral Density if you have them. (These filters allow us to use long exposures in daylight to blur the water in the falls.)Preparation for photography for trail and travel.
