2017, June 10: Moms With Cameras

Take your MOMtography to the next level!

Childhood is fleeting. Join us and learn how to capture all of your special memories from a Mom who understands just how priceless your moments can be.

This class is for anyone interested in learning more about their camera and photography to make those snapshots of their children really shine. It is perfect for beginners, but is also suited to hobbyists or enthusiasts who want to learn more, or want to conquer the things they struggle with when photographing their children.

Topics Include:

  • Understanding the Aperture, Shutter and Manual modes for more creativity
  • Understanding exposure; ISO, shutter speed and aperture
  • Understanding your camera’s Auto shooting modes
  • Finding the best natural light in everyday situations
  • Looking through the lens: which to choose and why
  • Tips and techniques for interacting with your kids to get that awesome shot
  • Tips for taking better photos of children; stages and ages, and props and posing
  • Composition tips to turn your snapshots into works of art
  • And so much more.

This class is appropriate for any camera but note that we will cover the manual settings and those might not be offered on all cameras. If that is the case, participants will still benefit from the many other settings, tips and techniques that are covered. So bring your camera, any lenses you have, a fully charged battery and a memory card and get ready for a fun morning learning how to take better pictures of your children.

Participants will receive Donna’s Basic Digital Photography Workbook (as a PDF) which covers all the topics from the class so that you can refer back to what you’ve learned long after the class has ended.

Class Limit: 12

Instructor: Donna Vance

Donna Vance is mom of three teenage children and the owner of Donna Gail Photography, specializing in maternity, newborn and infant photography. Because motherhood is so dear to her own heart, she has a compelling passion for brand new babies and their mothers.

She understands how fleeting infancy and childhood is and has a true devotion to helping others capture this special time in their lives through her portrait photography.

She also enjoys teaching moms how to better understand their own cameras so they can capture those everyday moments they’ll want to cherish for years to come.

Although the doors of Donna Gail Photography opened less than five years ago, Donna has actively enjoyed photography for more than 20 years. Her personal work includes macro photography as well as nighttime cityscapes, but her favorite photography has always been the memories she has captured of her own beloved children.

Donna is a member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America).

She teaches the Moms With Cameras  and Photography Tor Teens classes for Capital Photography Center.
