2017, March 4: Eastern Shore’s Wintering Ducks

Each winter, thousands of ducks call the Chesapeake Bay their home. One of their favorite places to visit is in Cambridge, Maryland where they are easily accessible for photography.

Join us on the Choptank River and enjoy several different species of ducks including Canvas Backs, American Wigeons, Greater and Lesser Scaups and more. “The Wall of Shame” has been a well-known secret for wildlife photographers as the ducks are close by, awaiting a handout from visitors.

We will spend time along the water working on a variety of captures of these ducks from active group diving to striving for the shot of the single duck apart from the flock.

Spend time with this cooperative flock and improve your bird photography skills. This class is designed for aspiring bird and nature photographers. Whether you are new to bird photography or more seasoned, the ducks in Cambridge will have you walking away with amazing images.

Topics Include:

  • The selection of ISO and shutter speeds to maximizing your camera’s ability to capture birds in action.
  • How to observe wildlife in action and discover their patterns and habits.
  • How to pan and shoot with a moving subject.

Recommended Gear:

  • DSLR with extra battery and extra memory card.
  • Manual for your camera.
