Morning On The Meadows

Morning On The Meadows

Howard County Conservancy was created in 1993 through a generous land donation by Ruth and Frances Brown. With over 232 acres of meandering fields, rolling hills, varied habitats and gardens, this land is home of the 300 year old farm known as Mount Pleasant.

Along with the natural treasures the conservancy holds, many historical buildings of Mount Pleasant Farm remains including the farmhouse, a carriage house, and several smaller structures. The property originated in 1703, when  Patuxent Ranger, Thomas Browne received the land grant known as Ranter’s Ridge. This farm remained in the family for eight generations and became known as Mount Pleasant Farm, until the death of the two remaining Brown sisters.

With a wide variety of subjects to capture, we will begin early on the misty meadow. Continuing on, we will capture the historical farm and gardens. Landscape and macro perspectives will allow us to think through our compositions and become artistic with our camera.

While any camera is suitable for this class, a DSLR or Mirrorless camera with lens choices can offer additional creativity.

Join us on this creative photographic outing and come away with a better understanding of your camera, and well composed nature photographs.

Topics Include:

  • Emphasis will be on keeping things simple with Camera settings, while developing a fresh eye for compelling nature compositions.
  • Selecting apertures, shutter speeds and ISO’s for proper exposure.
  • Learning how to think more like an artist when creating photographic compositions.

Class Limit: 8

NOTE - Students will be required to follow COVID-19 Safety Practices, conduct a Self-Screening Health Assessment and sign a Waiver of Liability prior to attending a class. These items can be reviewed on the class registration page.
