Annapolis At Twilight

Annapolis At Twilight

Let’s walk the cobblestone streets of Annapolis and capture this historic town. Annapolis has an eighteenth century feel as you wander past buildings from the mid 1700’s, and as home of the United States Naval Academy, don’t be surprised to see midshipmen in their uniforms walking past you.

Starting in the afternoon we will photograph historic homes, lively streets and Naval Academy Cadets walking the streets in their whites. As the light dims, we’ll enjoy the blue hour just after sunset and capture car light trails with long exposures. The city lights brighten the dark sky and the charm of the city really shines through for night photography.

This class is suitable for anyone interested in improving their photography skills. We’ll discuss the concept of purposeful photography and how to come home with wonderful travel related images that you’ll be proud of. We will also learn the concepts of slow shutter speeds in low light.

Topics include:

  • Travel photography and how to keep things simple.
  • Technical settings for proper exposure and getting off of the automatic mode.
  • Slow exposures for blurring movement and camera settings for night photography.
  • Compositional elements for capturing a beautiful image.

Recommended Gear:

  • A digital SLR or mirrorless camera with manual exposure controls
  • Lenses in the range of 24-200 will work fine for this class.
  • A sturdy tripods is a must.

Class Limit: 8

NOTE - Students will be required to follow COVID-19 Safety Practices, conduct a Self-Screening Health Assessment and sign a Waiver of Liability prior to attending a class. These items can be reviewed on the class registration page.
