Join instructor Lori Lankford for Holiday Lights in Old Town, Alexandria. Take a break from the fast pace of the season and enjoy the unique charm and history of Old Town Alexandria.
This is a hands-on walking, outdoor class where we will explore the magical lights of the holiday season. We will use historical Alexandria as our backdrop to photograph various lights in creative ways.
We will start at the Alexandria waterfront and then head towards Alexandria City Hall. We'll be stopping along the way to capture the city views, historical landmarks, and holiday scenes.
Lori will cover:
How to photograph during the magical "blue hour" of the day.
Techniques to capture the lights of the season including, light canopies, light trails, and candlelight.
All camera types are welcome but participants should have familiarity with their cameras and exposure basics.
If using an interchangeable lens camera, lenses in the range of 24mm-75mm would work well. Tripods are a must for night photography.

Lori Lankford is a photographer specializing in macro, flower and landscape photography. Her passion for photography began as a way to capture her personal travel adventures. Over the years she dived into the fine details of macro and flower photography. She loves to escape so deeply into the details of a tiny object. Lori spends her free time in local gardens across the country shooting in the natural light and capturing its beauty. Lori’s work has been exhibited in local and national gallery exhibits as well as in printed calendars and catalogs.
