Constitution Gardens is a lesser-known memorial and a living legacy to honor the U.S. Constitution and past Presidents.
There are several varieties of ducks that enjoy this pond including Northern Shovelers, Gadwalls, Ring-necked ducks, Mallards, and Canada Geese. A natural area within the busy monument area, many additional bird species can be found surrounding the park.
These ducks are accustomed to visitors and are cooperative subjects. We will spend time along the water patiently awaiting the ducks to glide closer for low perspectives and creative views.
Suitable for photographers of all levels, you will improve your skills in bird and nature photography. Becoming more aware of how light availability affects your camera setting choices, you’ll become more confident in quickly knowing what works depending on the scene.

This class is suitable for photographers of all levels, you will develop your skills in bird and nature photography and develop better confidence in choosing camera settings to create compelling images based on available light.
Recommended Equipment: DSLR with focal range of 24-300 mm lens. A sturdy tripod.
NOTE - Students will be required to follow COVID-19 Safety Practices, conduct a Self-Screening Health Assessment and sign a Waiver of Liability prior to attending a class. These items can be reviewed on the class registration page.

Emily Carter Mitchell is an award winning and published nature and wildlife photographer based in Annapolis, Maryland. Through her work Nature as Art she brings a creative interpretation of the natural world around us bringing a sense of serenity in a world increasingly filled with chaos. There is a sense of stillness and ethereal attributes in her images that has one see beyond what is first obvious.
Emily holds a Master’s Degree in Global Management, with a corporate background in Human Resources and extensive years in the travel and hospitality industry. Her photographic journey began when she was a teenager and she has always enjoyed photography as a way to capture the world around her.
Emily’s passion of photography is shared with others through her nature and wildlife photography classes for Capital Photography Center based in the Metro DC area.
