Capturing the Beauty of Roses

Join instructor Lori Lankford for a class on rose garden photography.  Lori will give you an introduction to capturing beautiful close-up images in the garden. We will cover technical skills of close-up flower photography, exploring the depth of field, use of light, and selective focus. 

Topics covered: 

  • How to capture roses in a variety of garden settings 
  • How to compose in a garden setting 
  • How to use light and modify light in the garden
  • How to use selective focus and depth of field in your images

This is a hands-on outdoor class where we will explore the gardens, using the garden as our canvas to create beautiful close-up images of the garden flowers. 

Our location will be in a garden park in north Arlington and the exact address with all the details will be in the confirmation letter.

Recommended Gear:

  • A DSLR or mirrorless camera is needed for this class and lenses in the range of 50mm-150mm would work well.
  • Macro lens is helpful but not required.  
  • A tripod is needed for this class. 

This class is for photographers who have good technical use of their camera equipment. 

COVID Safety Practices: Please bring a mask and wear it anytime we are gathered close together or when the instructor is working with you. When we are spread out you can remove your mask if you’d like.

Lori Lankford

Lori Lankford is a photographer specializing in macro, flower and landscape photography. Her passion for photography began as a way to capture her personal travel adventures. Over the years she dived into the fine details of macro and flower photography.  She loves to escape so deeply into the details of a tiny object. Lori spends her free time in local gardens across the country shooting in the natural light and capturing its beauty.  Lori’s work has been exhibited in local and national gallery exhibits as well as in printed calendars and catalogs.

  • A refund or a credit towards another class (less a $20 processing fee) can be given if cancellation notice is given more than 5 business days from the scheduled class.
  • If there is no cancellation notice, or it is given 5 business days or less, no refund or credit will be given.
  • Please check the name and date of the class carefully. Requests to reschedule a class will incur a $20 processing fee provided notice is given more than 5 business days prior to the class. If request to reschedule is given less than business 5 days prior to the class, no refund or credit will be given.
  • If Capital Photography Center cancels or postpones a class due to weather or low enrollment, you can choose a full refund or a credit towards a future class.
