Historic Annapolis is glorious in the summer months and a wonderful town for a photography walkabout. Join Emily Carter Mitchell and let’s walk the cobblestone streets of Annapolis together and capture this historic town.
Starting in the afternoon we will photograph historic homes, lively streets, and the Annapolis Harbor filled with a variety of boats. As the light dims, we will work on creating slow exposures to create car trails. As the sun sets, the city lights brighten the dark sky and the charm of the city really shines through, perfect for night photography.
This class is suitable for anyone interested in improving their photography skills, and any camera will do. We’ll discuss the concept of purposeful photography and essential compositional design in your images.
• Essential compositional design
• How to have proper exposure, sharpness through your images and understanding the histogram.
• Slow exposures for blurring movement and camera settings for night photography.
- A digital SLR or mirrorless camera with manual exposure controls
- Lenses in the range of 24-200 will work fine for this class
- Tripod for long exposures
COVID Safety Practices: Please bring a mask and wear it anytime we are gathered close together or when the instructor is working with you. When we are spread out you can remove your mask if you'd like.

"The instructor is a very good teacher and talented photographer. She takes us to interesting locations, gives a short briefing and technical review, then leads the class through the landscape ensuring that we students see all the photo possibilities, while checking that we keep our camera settings adjusted for the changing light. I get introduced to something new in every class. Things I could never have seen alone. With her instruction, I am now producing images that I enjoy to keep and enjoy to share with my family and friends."
