Have a Question about our offerings at Capital Photography Center?
Below are some of the most common questions we get from our community. If your question is not listed, feel free to contact Marie at info@capitalphotographycenter.com.
You are welcome to attend our ‘classroom’ style classes without a camera but for the best experience, it’s better to have one so you can learn during any hands-on practice sessions. You’ll definitely want to have a camera for any in-the-field-photography class.
You can attend without a camera and sometimes we may have an older model loaner you can use. (You could inquire about using one ahead of time.) Sometimes people may be in the market to buy a new camera and attending our Photo Basics class without one will expose them to things to consider before purchasing one. In other words, they will be a smarter consumer after attending the class.
We often have teens and tweens in our classes and if a parent thinks their child would do well in an adult class setting, then we are fine with it. Our instructors are great with kids so they would be welcome. If you have a younger child, or you would like to discuss specifics, you can contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
We recommend starting with our Photo Basics – Getting Off Auto class which is offered a couple of times each month. This will give you a foundation in exposure settings and how to operate the camera in some of the manual modes. After this class you would be able to take any of our other classes but this is the one you should start with.
Smart phones would be welcome at most of our classes unless a specific shooting technique is going to be covered. It would probably be best to double check before you register. You can do so by contacting .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
As soon as you complete your registration for a class, you immediately get an email with information about where to meet the instructor, their phone number, what to bring, and any other pertinent information about that specific class. We also send out a reminder letter a few days prior to the class.
We recommend you take the Photo Basics-Getting Off Auto Mode class first. This gives you a foundation that you will need in our other classes.
Yes, you would want to bring your laptop or desktop computer with you to these classes so you can follow along as the instructor demonstrates how to work with the programs.
