Holiday Photos Around the White House

People come from far and wide to take iconic photos of the White House all decked out in holiday trim! Join us to photograph the White House, the National Christmas Tree and holiday decorations on buildings nearby.
During this class you will learn about creative uses of perspective, and using framing in your compositions. This will also be a great opportunity to practice low light photography, and Corey will discuss settings and tips to help you capture high quality photos. You will even have the opportunity to use camera motion to create abstract and impressionistic photographs.
Topics Include:
-Exposure settings for capturing holiday lights at night
-Tips for framing compelling compositions
-Image review and feedback in the field
Throughout the class Corey works with each student as they photograph to ensure a strong understanding of capturing the lights and night photography principles. This class is small enough where he can work with each individually person so all skill levels are welcome from beginner to advanced.
Recommended Equipment:
A DSLR or mirrorless camera, lenses covering the range 18-200mm, and a sturdy tripod. A cable release or remote timer if you have one.
Participants should be familiar with their camera and with exposure controls such as ISO, Aperture and Shutter. We will not be able to introduce you to this material at this class. If not familiar with these topics, consider taking the Photo Basics class first.
Class Limit: 8
Instructor: Corey Hilz
Corey Hilz is a professional photographer specializing in nature and travel photography. He finds the diversity in nature and cultures around the world offer boundless opportunities for new images. Corey approaches his subjects with an artistic eye, looking for a fresh perspective. He goes beyond the documentary image to show a unique perspective using color, shape and line. He strives to share the beauty of a destination you’ve never seen and provide a new perspective on a familiar subject. While Corey has collected diverse images from extensive travel, he also finds some of the most interesting subjects close to home.
