Lavender Fields Forever

Join us at small family-owned lavender farm in Maryland and enjoy the delicate scent of lavender as you capture lovely images of the fields. The farm offers a beautiful backdrop with a stunning barn and well-kept lavender rows that offer a variety of perspectives.
During your visit, you will learn how to photograph large scenes and maximize your photographic opportunities by also capturing intimate landscape details.
Topics include:
- Elements of composition to create strong images
- Appropriate camera settings for compositions large and small
- Using perspective to make dynamic photographs
- Creative flower photography tools and techniques
- Effectively using your camera equipment to capture the images you envision
Recommended Equipment:
DSLR or mirrorless camera and lenses covering the range 18-200mm, a tripod and polarizing filter if you have one.
Optional: diffuser, reflectors, close-up equipment (macro lens, extension tubes, screw-on close-up lens).
Note: Access fee is included in your registration and you’ll receive a lavender bouquet to take home.

Instructor: Corey Hilz

Corey Hilz is a professional photographer specializing in nature and travel photography. He finds the diversity in nature and cultures around the world offer boundless opportunities for new images. Corey approaches his subjects with an artistic eye, looking for a fresh perspective. He goes beyond the documentary image to show a unique perspective using color, shape and line. He strives to share the beauty of a destination you’ve never seen and provide a new perspective on a familiar subject. While Corey has collected diverse images from extensive travel, he also finds some of the most interesting subjects close to home.
Class Cancellation Policy
- A refund or a credit towards another class (less a $20 processing fee) can be given if cancellation notice is given more than 5 business days from the scheduled class.
- If there is no cancellation notice, or it is given 5 business days or less, no refund or credit will be given.
- Please check the name and date of the class carefully. Requests to reschedule a class will incur a $20 processing fee provided notice is given more than 5 business days prior to the class. If request to reschedule is given less than business 5 days prior to the class, no refund or credit will be given.
- If Capital Photography Center cancels or postpones a class due to weather or low enrollment, you can choose a full refund or a credit towards a future class.
