Exploring Black & White Photography

Exploring Black & White Photography

Join Kim Kelly and explore black and white photography.

The genre of black & white photography is quite unique and can be intimidating to get started. However, once you learn the concepts behind it along with how to see in B&W, a whole new creative field opens up to you.

In this 3-part class lead by Kim Kelly, we'll have an Zoom presentation introducing theories behind B&W photography. Then we'll meet in the field to apply your knowledge and creativity. We'll end with the final portion, an online image review of your submissions.

Class Schedule:
- Online presentation – Wednesday, August 12th at 7PM
- In the field Photographing – Saturday, August 15th at 8-11AM
- Online Image Review – Wednesday, August 26th at 7PM

For the in the field photo shoot, we'll meet near the Washington Monument and capture moving images of the war memorials (including WWII, Vietnam & Vietnam Women’s Memorial, Korean War Memorial).
Their stories, architecture, and settings lend themselves to striking B&W imagery.

Recommend Gear: DSLR/Mirrorless camera, lenses ranging from 24-200mm, tripod, polarizer, and neutral density filters (if you have them).
