Community Building Through Social Media

May 8, 2019 by Admin

Most of us are on some sort of social platform these days, including the Capital Photography Center!

Facebook, Twitter and Instagram aren’t just ways for us to communicate upcoming classes, photo tips or student highlights, it’s our way to build a community of photography-loving folks around the Washington, D.C. metro area and areas far beyond.

These online platforms connect the Capital Photo Center community in a way that gives us the ability to learn together, interact in real time and keep up with what your circle is up to!

We might be a local-focused group, but social media lets us connect people from across town or across the globe. Sharing our lives together builds relationships through creative outlets and understanding the photographic craft.

Visual communication is imperative to the social media experience! What better medium to explore social media with than photography? Through social platforms, especially Instagram, you can browse amazing images from all around the world or see what your long distance loved ones experienced on their vacation.

However, it’s not all about the social aspect. The more images you consume as a viewer, the better your photographic eye becomes. This helps us “see” better images and also helps us define what we like and what we don’t like as we grow our photography.

There’s a plethora of ways you can get involved with social media platforms. Following your loved one and brands you trust (like us) keep you updated on what’s new but when other folks follow you, they can see what new photographic endeavors you’ve been up to!

We’re committed to using our platforms to amplify the photographic voices of our students, past and present. We regularly share our student’s beautiful work, as well as friends of CPC who use our #capitalphotogenter hashtag. There’s an awesome feeling of gratification knowing others will enjoy seeing your image on our platforms and we’re always looking for new ways to highlight our students.

Come join us and see how we reach our respective communities through these platforms. No need to be plugged in 24/7, social media gives us opportunities to connect faster than we ever could before with each other and with our community.

Our social media platforms are our foundation for connecting with you all and we look forward to sharing awesome photography together!
