Urban Art & Architecture Photo Walk

There’s no better place to photograph colorful murals and quirky architecture than D.C.’s historic U Street and Shaw neighborhoods. Join instructor Tammy Loverdos as we explore some of the city’s most visually rich and character-filled residential streets.
We’ll kick off in the photogenic and artsy Blagden Alley—home to the D.C. Alley Museum—then wander through the vibrant Shaw area, finishing near 15th and U Street.
Tammy will guide us in capturing strong compositions through an architectural photography lens. We’ll use buildings as key elements of our visual story.
Topics include:
- Framing murals
- Finding creative angles
- Playing with perspective
- Exploring dynamic lighting
- Composing with bold shadows
- Telling stories in context; the art on the architecture and in the neighborhood
Join us and experiment with fresh, artistic approaches to vibrant urban scenes!
Any camera will do from DSLR, Mirroless and even smartphones.
