Step into the portrait editing workflow of a professional headshot photographer and learn how to unleash the powerful editing tools available in Lightroom Classic, Photoshop, as well as a brief introduction to the power of Evoto! Join Laura Hatcher in her photography studio as she provides you with tips and techniques necessary to edit portraits on a professional level.
Topics include:
- Global edits such as overall exposure and contrast, cropping for deliverables, color correction, white balance, and exporting for final delivery.
- Local adjustment tools such as adjusting skin tone, skin softening, lips, teeth, brightening or reshaping eyes, removing blemishes, dealing with flyaway hairs, lint and dust spot removal, fixing garment creases or wrinkles and more.
Prerequisite: Participants should have a basic working knowledge of Lightroom Classic including importing images and basic familiarity of the Develop Module. Knowledge of Photoshop is not required, but students will learn how to use a few powerful tools in this program as well as Evoto.

Laura Hatcher is an award winning and published event, headshot and portrait photographer based in Alexandria, Virginia. She started her photographic journey while on active duty with the United States Navy. Laura, now a retired Naval Officer, opened a small studio in the heart of Old Town, Alexandria and is enjoying her second career as a full time photographer. She continues to serve the Veteran community with her headshot and military ceremony photography.
Laura’s work has been featured in the Washington Post, Architectural Digest, Forbes Magazine, VIP Alexandria Magazine, and several college Alumni magazines. Her clients have included: The City of Alexandria, Visit Alexandria, The United States Naval Academy Alumni Association (her Alma Mater), The US Capitol Historical Society, and Texas A&M The Bush School of Government and Public Service.
